Couple of points:

• Stefan has been out injured and hasn’t played competitive football for 18 months. Had this not been the case, he likely wouldn’t need to be loaned

• With Zubimendi coming in (if the signing is completed!) he will be incredibly limited for minutes which is not helpful coming off the back of a major injury

• He’s impressed in preseason, but Stefan will be able to make more improvements to his game out on loan than being stuck on the bench

A good loan could be the best way to see him really kickstart his Liverpool career, on from 2022/23.

Billy Koumetio has completed a permanent move from Liverpool to Dundee, subject to international clearance.

The French defender heads to the Scottish Premiership side after six years with the Reds following his arrival from Orleans FC back in 2018.

Koumetio made two senior appearances during his time at Liverpool, debuting in the Champions League in December 2020 and featuring in the League Cup 12 months later.


@MikRec: Zubimendi must make his decision this weekend as @LFC will not wait. There is little hope in San Sebastian that he will stay.

Zubimendi has “opened a lot of paths that will be difficult to undo with the meetings he has had with Liverpool in the last two weeks.” Liverpool expects him to wear Red next season onwards.
