Reiziger, Holland’s U21 manager on Gravenberch:
“I don’t like his choice to stay at Liverpool & I have told him this. If you can join the national team, you do this with your heart, and don’t think about yourself.”
Koeman: "We are not happy with Ryan Gravenberch refusing to play for his country."
Reiziger (U21 manager) regarding Gravenberch:
"Playing for your country is an honor, you want to be part of that. Plus the fame you can achieve with it. You battle for your country, you have the entire nation behind you. At your club you only have one part of the city behind you."
Reiziger (U21 manager): "I hope Ryan Gravenberch will learn from this."
• So next time he will be called up again if he performs for Liverpool?
Reiziger: "It doesn't mean he will just be called up again. He needs to learn from this."
Koeman: "We don't like it when players refuse to play for the U21 team. Nigel de Jong (technical director KNVB) has spoken with Jeremie Frimpong about this. He still wants to play for us, but we decided he will not be called up. You can see it as punishment. I believe you are obliged to play for your country."
