Arsenal have had a £60 million bid for Moisés Caicedo rejected, with Brighton & Hove Albion insisting the midfielder is not for sale in the January transfer window.
Brighton have already sold Leandro Trossard to Arsenal for £26 million this month and are determined to keep Caicedo, who will be key to the team’s hopes of finishing in the European places this season.
Arsenal will now consider whether to increase their bid for the 21-year-old or turn to other targets, with Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi also of interest. Zubimendi would be a cheaper option than Caicedo given the Spaniard has a release clause of just under £53 million.
