This may be one to be taken with a pinch of salt, but TalkSPORT presenter Alan Brazil has claimed that he has 'heard' that City could be handed a 60 point deduction.

Speaking on his morning show, alongside Ally McCoist, the broadcaster said:

“This might be nonsense, but two different sources have told me this. I’m hearing 60 point deduction, which would please people and it still gives City a chance of surviving."I don’t know whether that’s this season, I can’t see how it could be this season because by the time they get it through it’ll be too late."

McCoist then responded with:

"I think a lot of people wouldn’t think that’s enough. Obviously we’ll have to wait and see how this appeal goes.”

Andy Burnham denies downplaying seriousness of City findings

Andy Burnham has responded to the BBC's story that claims some Premier League clubs were "astonished" by the Prime Minister's comments appearing to downplay City's verdict and are "concerned" about political interference in the appeal process by saying:

No, I haven't downplayed the seriousness of the findings. They are findings that need to be considered with great care and seriousness, and then the process that considers them needs to be fully independent. I said that last week, and I will repeat it again. I think it's incumbent on everybody now to let the process run its course.I was asked a question about wider investment. I think it's important to separate the football issues from wider investment. The football issues have to be looked at fully, and that is without question.

Lawyer issues appeal warning

Sports lawyer Dan Chapman admitted he was surprised that Man City's chiefs had yet to take a 'damage limitation' approach to their appeal.

"We now know that the Independent Commission, based on the Premier League's investigations and not simply the Der Spiegel leaked documents, have made multiple findings of fact based on actual evidence and we no longer need to speculate as to the authenticity of documents," Chapman told TEAMtalk.

“And so for me the strategy deployed by City from the outset has always been high risk at best, or extremely dangerous at worst. If City cannot win this appeal, or win out via subsequent legal processes, they are making the sanction stage of these proceedings more difficult for themselves. But they have been nothing if not consistent in their approach.

"Time will ultimately tell, but I see no imminent sign of damage limitation mode being deployed yet. A punishment for seven seasons would be fitting.."

Manchester City bring in new advisor in PL battle

According to the Lawyer, Manchester City have appointed Mark Howard KC as an advisor in their legal battle with the Premier League.

Howard's past clients include Roman Abramovich and Elton John. He is widely seen as one of the bar's top commercial and fraud barristers, he will be working alongside City's other barristers Lord Pannick and Paul Harris KC.

According to the Independent, one senior figure from a top-flight club argued that the impending sanctions for their breaches of financial regulations have created a 'farcical' situation that could turn 'violent'.

City brushed aside the media furore to defeat Liverpool 3-0 on Sunday. Enzo Maresca's side overcame the 10-man Reds in a charged atmosphere at Anfield, where the home supporters directed fierce criticism towards their North West rivals, branding them 'cheats'. The Independent's report claims that executives have already begun contacting one another regarding whether City should face an immediate Premier League suspension, or whether 15 fellow member clubs would push to table such a vote.

Under Rule 6B of the Premier League rulebook, 15 clubs hold the power to vote for expulsion, though it has been suggested this outcome remains highly unlikely given the conflicting opinions among clubs.
