Sky Sports understands that Newcastle have rejected an £80m offer from Tottenham for Sandro Tonali.

Newcastle open to selling Sandro Tonali

Newcastle United have rejected a bid from Tottenham for Sandro Tonali.

It has been widely reported that an offer of around £80million was rejected earlier in the week for the midfielder, who arrived on Tyneside in summer 2023.

United have, of course, also been linked with a move for Tonali this summer, and the Chronicle is reporting that Newcastle are open to selling the Italy international for the right price this summer, and that price is believed to be £100m.

Manchester United have no interest in selling Benjamin Sesko after reports in Spain suggested he was on a shortlist to replace Robert Lewandowski.

Spanish newspaper Marca said Sesko was one of the options Barcelona were considering as they seek to sign a new striker this summer, with Lewandowski leaving the Nou Camp after four years at the club.

Barcelona have been pushing to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, but are yet to strike a deal for the Argentine attacker and are now running the rule of potential alternatives.

United need to buy the land behind Old Trafford to push ahead with their plans for a 100,000-seater arena. The land is owned by Freightliner and talks have stalled. Last summer, reports claimed Freightliner valued the land at £350million, although Andy Burnham played down that figure, saying: "I think everyone should file that one away."

However, Burnham mentioned that compulsory purchase powers could be used if necessary, and it might be approaching the point where that option is considered.

Latest on new stahim plans

United don't expect their new stahim plans to be impacted by Andy Burnham's departure as Greater Manchester mayor. Burnham was appointed as a member of parliament for Makerfield last week, the first step to replacing Keir Starmer as Prime Minister.

Starmer announced he is stepping down as prime minister on Monday morning. Burnham, who has been involved in United's plans to build a new Old Trafford, is the heavy favourite to succeed Starmer in Downing Street.

However, United sources have confirmed that stahim plans will be unaffected because the Old Trafford regeneration project is covered by the Mayoral Development Corporation, which has been constituted by parliament and can only be unpicked by the government.

Man United favourites to sign £85m star

Manchester United are the outright favourites to sign Mateus Fernandes from West Ham, according to Give Me Sport.

The Reds are understood to have agreed personal terms with the Portuguese midfielder, who reportedly dreams of playing alongside Bruno Fernandes. However, Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham have also been credited with an interest.

It was even reported that Spurs were close to agreeing personal terms with him. Nevertheless, United are still believed to be in the best position to sign him.

Manchester United need to sell Manuel Ugarte for £25million to avoid making a PSR loss, according to the Sun.

Ugarte has struggled in England and now looks set to be sold. United signed him from PSG for £42million and have accepted the fact no club will pay that money for him.

While AC Milan and Galatasaray are two clubs to be linked with him, it's understood United need to recuperate £25m to avoid making a loss that could trouble PSR.

Tottenham Hotspur make Marcus Rashford decision

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Marcus Rashford - but are not willing to pay the £40m release clause in his contract.

This is according to the i Paper. Spurs have been busy in the transfer window and it appears the Manchester United academy graduate is on their transfer list.

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi is understood to be a huge admirer of Rashford's work and believes he is a Premier League proven forward who can transform their attack. However, if they try to sign him, it's understood they will look to negotiate a lower fee than the current £40m price-tag.

Manuel Ugarte's performance in Uruguay's 2-2 draw with Cape Verde has been slaughtered by his nation's media. Ugarte is expected to be sold this summer by Manchester United.

His latest display would not have done much to help his transfer value. The Montevido Portal said: "Very sloppy with the ball. Against an opponent with very physical and fast players, he struggled a lot.

"When they dropped back, he wasn't the right person to control the ball, which made him uncomfortable. Nevertheless, the cross that led to the second goal came from his feet.

"Once again, he was one of the team's biggest weaknesses and should have been substituted much earlier. He's not there, he just wasn't there."

Leeds tipped to challenge Man United for star

Leeds United have made a £20m bid for Southampton ace Shea Charles, according to Sky Sports. Manchester United have also been linked with the former Manchester City star.

It's understood Southampton have rejected Leeds' proposal for the 22-year-old ace. However, holding onto him may be difficult given the Saints are still in the Premier League having been disqualified from the play-offs.

It's believed Charles was viewed as a potential cost-effective replacement for Casemiro and were actively scouting him.

Ederson all but told the media his move to Manchester United was complete. The Brazilian did not feature in his country's recent 3-0 victory over Haiti.
